When we left Tangier Island, we decided to follow a suggestion of another couple we had met and continue a little farther north to Crisfield, MD. They have a small, only 515 slips, marina that is government owned in the town. It is off season here, so there are very few boats but the marina is very nice. Crisfield was hit by hurricane Sandy and a lot of the town was underwater. They are currently redoing some of the downtown area, but with the recent addition of a Food Lion and McDonald's, the town is taking on the new shape of the future. There are, however, several restaurants in town specializing in, of all things, steamed crabs!!! We'll probably leave here shortly and head over and through Smith Island and then on to Reedville, VA. Since we had to motor from Tangier Island to Crisfield, once again the wind was on our nose, we hope to be able to get in a little sailing. I say we plan to go though Smith Island because there is actually a channel that goes through the middle of the island, similar to the one at Tangier Island.
