Indecisive, you bet!! After leaving Ocracokeon Saturday, we returned to the town dock in Oriental for the night. Late on Sunday afternoon we left and headed toward Cedar Creek anchorage where we had spent the last night out before coming into oriental in early August. We were planning on returning to Beaufort, NC, going outside and running up to Cape Lookout for a day or two. Then we would mosey on  down to Wrightsville Beach where we could get Nancy to the Wilmington airport on September 30 for her trip back to Arkansas.

Over coffee the next morning, we realized we had 21 days before she left and it was only 2 days to Wrightsville Beach. We also discussed that our original goal was to reach the Chesapeake Bay this summer. After spending the 6 weeks in Savannah, we had given up on that goal thinking we didn't have enough time.

We pulled out the charts and saw that Chesapeake Bay was only 200 miles to the north and a round trip to there and back to Wrightsville Beach was only 500 miles.

So, here we are at the town dock in Oriental again, having fueled up, picked up a few groceries and taken on water having our coffee and preparing to start out toward the Chesapeake this morning. We hope this will be an uneventful trip, as far as boat problems, and are looking forward to a little sailing along the way and enjoying the scenery of some remote areas. We will be thinking about and learning more about the side trip through the Dismal Swamp on the NC / VA border. Everyone we talk with said it's a beautiful area with a few locks to traverse.

Once in Chesapeake Bay we hope to have a few days to hang out and enjoy the sailing. Then, we'll make the long run to Wrightsville Beach, Nancy can return to AR for 10 days and take care of her business, and once she returns we will start the trip south again. As mentioned before, we plan to start south and go until we find warm winter weather, pretty water and a small friendly town. It could be someplace in SC, northern FL or even the Keys. Only time will tell.

Here's a couple of pictures taken at the Cedar Creek anchorage:

We hope everyone has a great week!!!
