I returned Saturday evening from my trip to Colorado. I spent a week with my younger son, Jon, who is a Major in the USAF currently stationed at Fort Carson as an Army Liason Officer. He will leave the Septembber 30 to return to Shreveport, LA and begin flying again as an Electronic Warfare Officer on a    B-52. We had a great time, spending 5 days driving Jeep roads in the mountains. We saw many beautiful places and reaced altitudes of 13,500 feet. The Jeep Rubicon that Jon has is amazing and goes places that one wouldn't think possible.

Following this post, I'll add several pictures from our road trip.

Nancy and I will be leaving Oriental on Tuesday morning and sail toward Okracoke, NC which is a small barrier island off the coast of NC. We'll spend a few days anchored in Silver Lake at Okracoke, then head south where we will go outside at Beaufort, NC and sail to Cape lookout. There is supposed to be a nice little harbor off the cape where we can anchor for another few days. After that, we will work our way down to Wilmington, NC for where Nancy will fly back to Fayetteville for 10 days to handle some personal business.

Once she returns, we will start back down the east coast, either sailing outside or motoring the ICW. We want to explore some of the places we passed in our haste to get from Savannah to Oriental. Should we find somewherre we really like, we may spend so time there. Otherwise, we plan to take our time and possibly end up in the FL keys by winter. At this time, we will decide whether we plan to spend another season on the boat or look for another adventure. If we stay on the boat, we may plan to head to the Bahamas and even farther down into some of the islands. Obviously, we are gaining more confisdence in our sdailing abilities and in the condition of the Tumbleweed Too.

Randy, Thanks for the kind words for Jon. I will pass them along. He has 9 more years until he can retire at the young, old age of about 45. Then, he plans to enjoy his retirement traveling and maybe doing a little outdoors work as he wants.
