Well, here it is October 2 and we're still in Deltaville, VA. I had said earlier that we planned to spend a couple of days here. Seems like one thing led to another, along with some battery issues that needed resolving, so we just stuck around. Deltaville is a nice, small town surrounded by bays and inlets and the anchorage harbor is really nice.

The first day here, Nancy and I were walking along the highway with our backpacks on when a fellow pulls over and asks if we're going to the grocery. We said , yes, and he then told us it was a lot farther than we envisioned and he would give us a ride so we hopped into his SUV. It was a little farther than we had anticipated and we were grateful for the ride. He then said he had a couple of errands to run and he would pick us up and take us back to our dinghy. Come to find out, we were anchored almost in front of his home on Jackson Creek. His wife was out of town so he invited us to watch the America's Cup race final with he and a few friends. We did so and met several nice folks from town, along with the owner of the Waterway Guide we have been using since leaving FL.

Before we left, he insisted that we use his dock to tie our dingy to when going to town, us his bicycles whenever we needed so we didn't have to unload ours and finally offered his dock for Tumbleweed to tie up to and use his water and shore power. We continued to anchor until yesterday when we learned we need to put a heavy shore power charge on our batteries. So, we came across and tied up to his dock, plugged in and took on water. We were finally able to repay him a little by having him in for dinner. Later, we were able to use his outside shower for nice, warm showers.  He has offered us his car today if we want to go 7 miles for propane before taking off.

This fellows name is one I know I'll remember for a long time, Bob Walker. You don't meet too many people in this world like Bob!!!

Surely, later today we'll be headed toward Cape Charles and resume our trip south.
